Yes they do as long as they produce more power than your base needs the generator runs but doesnt use fuel and the battery charges when the battery runs out it starts using fuel.

Second i noticed is that your building is drawing power from the solar panels and battery first before pulling from the generators. If placing a capacitor down and it lights up but then the light quickly goes out they are not charging. Add non essential devices or those which use large amounts of power to a generator power group.
In addition any generators present in the base will not consume fuel as long as there is ample solar energy stored in capacitors to meet the base s power needs. But even still i don t think you re ever going to pull more than a few kpu from a full array of 15 panels even in space. I tested with a base build core 10 large solar panels on concrete blocks and a capacitor. Solar energy setups can be complicated and require some thought to become truly efficient.
Batteries are not charging. Then reversed the process. Then kept adding capacitors because why not. Do they not work in space or am i doing it wrong.
If you look at the total power the panels was producing you will see that the solar energy was less than that of the consumption rate. Next add a switch to power on off the items which you want to use generator power for. Maybe that s your problem. All the damage is on the turrets though not the panels.
