Eardrum Attic Retraction

This is a cholesteatoma that has formed. When only certain parts of the eardrum become retracted they are sometimes referred to as retraction pockets. Tympanic membrane retraction is a condition where a part of the eardrum becomes weakened and loose and is pulled inwards by the negative pressure of the middle ear.
