Do silverfish live in attics. In buildings silverfish can only exist in sufficiently humid crevice rich environments. They don t come in through your exterior walls and they have a really hard time breathing in your attic or anywhere that is outside of the water. The attic is often a good choice for them because it is not dehumidified by the ac in the summer or the heat in the winter. It doesn t necessarily mean that they are feeding there.

They feed on mold which occurs in high moisture situations and organic matter. The silverfish are likely in your bathroom because of the higher moisture level. They may feed on surface molds found on cardboard boxes found in damp basements or attics. Silverfish are drawn to moisture and often infest damp dark places like bathrooms laundry rooms basements attics and garages.

Have an exterminator inspect your apartment. This includes attics basements garages and kitchens where they can feed on dust unsealed dried food and clutter like paper. In homes with attics silverfish often occupy the attic space where they get into cardboard boxes and feed on stored clothes books papers and other items. Houses with cedar shake roofs may be more prone to silverfish infestations because mold can easily form on these shingles.

Make sure that vents are open in the crawlspace. Where do they live. But the insect known as the silverfish does come in through your exterior walls and has no problem breathing in your attic. Over the years books stored in the attic did show evidence of silverfish.

You may find camel crickets cheerfully living in your crawl space but silverfish would much rather live in the house. They prefer room temperature areas with 70 90 humidity. But since i had the attic insulation which had been fiberglass changed to blown in cellulose this past summer i ve been finding silverfish in the kitchen bathroom hall and bedrooms. Silverfish may be found in the attic and basement areas in storage boxes.

Unfortunately these pests are nocturnal. Commonly found in stored boxes in garages and sheds. Silver fish are not generally an attic pest. They are especially attracted to paper and damp clothing.

Capable of thriving in most climates silverfish prefer to dwell in dark damp areas such as basements attics kitchens and bathrooms. Around your home you re most likely to find them in attics basements crawl spaces bathrooms and kitchens. They live in cracks and voids.
